Meet the Anesthesiologist
Dr. Brent J. Bucyk B.MSc., M.D., F.R.C.P.(C)

Dr. Brent Bucyk is a certified Medical Anesthesiologist who has practiced in Edmonton since 1988. Dr. Bucyk obtained his Bachelor of Medical Science degree at the University of Alberta in 1979 and his degree of Medicine in 1983. A rotating internship was completed the following year at the Edmonton General Hospital. Dr. Bucyk became an Anesthesiology Fellow of the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in 1988 after training at the University of Alberta.
Since 1988, Dr. Bucyk has been an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Alberta. He served as Resident Program Director at the Royal Alexandra Hospital from 1988 to 1992 as well as chairing the Morbidity and Mortality Committee. Dr. Bucyk took on the duties of President of the Alberta Division of the Canadian Anesthesia Society for two years starting in 1992. In 1994, Dr. Bucyk was appointed to the Alberta medical Association Subcommittee of Medical Benefits and went on to chair this committee from 1997 to 2000. In 2003, Dr. Bucyk became certified as an inspector of non-hospital private surgical facilities for the Alberta College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Bucyk is still an active member at the Royal Alexandra Hospital Anesthesia Department and has been working in a number of Royal College approved non-hospital outpatient surgical facilities since 2002.
Dr. Bucyk was on the Board of Directors at the Derrick Golf and Winter Club for eight years and served a s President of the club in 2008-2009. You might see him in the summer trying to lower his golf handicap at the Derrick Club or throwing a curling rock at the Saville Centre in the winter on his leisure time.
